A series of events and dialogues at COP29 featured by the Gender and Energy Compact
Date: 21st November 2024
Location: UNIDO Pavillion, A7 Blue zone
Gender equality in climate decision-making often remains overlooked, undermining effective climate action. Despite frameworks like the Paris Agreement emphasizing the importance of gender-responsive transitions to low-carbon economies, women’s participation in climate negotiations is still limited. Women, particularly in developing countries, play crucial roles in managing natural resources and building climate resilience. Yet, their involvement in sustainable energy planning is minimal, impeding progress towards inclusive growth. At COP29, several events at the UNIDO Pavilion on Gender Day – November 21st – will explore these critical themes and showcase best practices for a sustainable and inclusive energy future.
