The energy transition is central to addressing the climate crisis. It cannot be achieved unless women equally lead, participate in and benefit from sustainable energy.
This session will bring together government officials and representatives from organizations working to empower women in the field of sustainable energy as well as women that lead the energy transition. The main objective is to open a space for women to tell their stories and for organizations to showcase how their efforts have actually impacted the lives of women and their opportunities. In parallel, this event will serve as a call to action for the multiple stakeholders participating in the SEforALL Global Forum to unveil how important it is to develop gender-transformative initiatives to tackle inequality in the sustainable energy sector and endorse the Gender and Energy Compact.
During the 45-minutes dialogue, the following questions will be addressed:
- What are the good practices and lessons learned by the organizations that proactively carry out programmes and projects to empower women in the sustainable energy sector?
- Have the initiatives positively impacted women’s lives? Are there outcomes at the individual level or even at the community level?
- Why are these initiatives important from the perspective of the beneficiaries, and how could these efforts be improved?
- How can these initiatives be scaled up or replicated to include more women from the global south?
