The sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 14 to 25 March 2022. Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, CSW66 will take place in a hybrid format. All side events and parallel events will be fully virtual.
- Priority theme: Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes;
- Review theme: Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work (agreed conclusions of the sixty-first session).
At the CSW66, UNIDO and UN Women, the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and the International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy (ENERGIA) will co-host two events. Bringing together government officials, international organization representatives, private sector entities and civil society members, the events will discuss how the sustainable energy transition must be gender-responsive to effectively address the climate crisis.

This event provides a platform for signatories and supporters of the “Gender and Energy Compact”, launched at the 2021 High-Level Dialogue on Energy (currently 8 governments and 47 (inter)national development, private sector and civil society entities), to present their strategies, commitments and lessons learned for gender-responsive sustainable energy and climate action.
The event will be followed by an interactive peer-to-peer networking meeting between signatories and stakeholders to inspire development of individual action(s).
